Sara seems perfect for her new job as publicist at Albatross Community Services. It serves a large immigrant population from South Asia, the Caribbean and Somalia. Toronto-born Sara is the daughter of South Asians from the Caribbean, and she is fully aware that her brown skin was important in her landing the job. She is smart and competent, yet it becomes chillingly clear that not all her co-workers — brown or white — are prepared to welcome the new girl. Office politics steeped in rivalry and racism make for a toxic brew. This is Priya Ramsingh’s first novel.
